A LOT OF OLD AND NEW IN THIS TRAILER AND MORE AFTER THE JUMP!
The video should run you through all the news quite nicely, but I do want to touch on one thing: So we finally get some intel on the ominous “Gem System”. Looks like each character can “equip” up to 5 of those things and they will activate during the match if certain conditions are met. There are tons of different types, so there are probably all kinds of buffs you can give to your character through them. Now while Seth Killian has us believe that “Tournament players will want to use them”, it is really hard to imagine players select 5 (or 10 if you have to select 5 for each of your characters) out of at lot of different gems before every single match. People are complaining about the constant button checking that players go through, since everyone plays on different controllers and uses different button configurations, but this is sounding to take even longer than a button check would.
The exact means of how and where to get gems is unknown so far as well, but if you preorder the Street Fighter X Tekken special edition you get 45 of them in total, which might just mean that at least one of the ways to attain those shiny character upgrades could be micro transactions. I can only hope that that is not the (only) way.
Anyway, SFxT is coming out on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe.
